63 More Tourists Including Foreign Nationals Airlifted from Chaten. Two Mi-17 One Cheetah Helicopter Engaged in Rescue and Relief Operations in Sikkim

Then the second batch of tourists were successfully airlifted from Chaten to Pakyong Greenfield Airport today.
With a marginal improvement in the weather condition in Sikkim, two Indian Airforce Mi-17 V5 helicopters took off from Pakyong Greenfield Airport towards North Sikkim which is the worst hit area by heavy rainfall. The helicopters lifted 9 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with their equipment, to provide support for ongoing disaster relief.
Another team from Power Department, Government of Sikkim and Airtel telecommunication services were also airlifted, with the mission to restore essential services, including telecommunications and electricity, using satellite-based technologies and portable backup batteries in areas rendered inaccessible by road.
At around 6:50 AM one helicopter landed at Chaten helipad while another one went towards Thangu.
Both the helicopters after dropping the NDRF, power department and telecommunication services personnel got engaged in evacuation of stranded people particularly tourists. A Cheetah helicopter also got engaged in the evacuation.
Soon the first batch of tourists from Chaten were successfully evacuated to Pakyong Airport.
The two MI 17 helicopters successfully completed its first evacuation operation, transporting 39 evacuees from Chaten to Pakyong Greenfield Airport. Additionally, four passengers were safely evacuated using the Cheetah Helicopter.
Second Batch of Stranded Tourists Airlifted to Safety from Chaten.
Then the second batch of tourists were successfully airlifted from Chaten to Pakyong Greenfield Airport today. In the second batch a MI-17 helicopter transported 20 tourists, including two foreign nationals, ensuring their safe evacuation.
Additionally, another MI-17 helicopter is on standby to assist in airlifting the stranded tourists to Bagdogra safely, ensuring support and safe transport are readily available for those in need.
To further assist the rescued tourists in reaching their destinations, Sikkim Nationalized Transport (SNT) buses have been arranged for a smooth commute.
The State Government continues to prioritise the safety and comfort of tourists during these unprecedented weather conditions.
