The situation worsened after floods in 2018, which damaged a crucial three-kilometre road stretch connecting Tuisa Khatang to Shanti Bazar.

While Tripura witnesses progress in infrastructure and facilities, some areas still grapple with basic issues. One such place is Sabdhan Chowhudrypara, a village under the Kataluma village council. Home to 600 tribal Jumia families, the village has been struggling with poor road infrastructure and inadequate drinking water supply for years.

The situation worsened after floods in 2018, which damaged a crucial three-kilometre road stretch connecting Tuisa Khatang to Shanti Bazar.

The road’s destruction not only made transportation difficult but also led to the breaking of the village’s water pipeline. As a result, residents have been forced to rely on wells for drinking water, a situation that remains unresolved.

Speaking on the issue, one of the villager stated, “For the past six years, no significant efforts have been made to repair the road or restore the water supply.”

The people of the area are frustrated by the ongoing neglect, local villagers are now demanding that authorities take urgent action to address these pressing issues once and for all.
