5 Cadres of Banned Militant Outfits Arrested in 24-Hour in Manipur

In a series of operations against militant activities in the last 24 hours, Manipur Police and security forces have arrested five active cadres of banned organizations from Imphal West. The arrests were made in three separate operations targeting individuals involved in extortion and monetary demands across the valley area.

In the first operation, conducted under the Singjamei Police Station, authorities apprehended Huirem Dinesh Meetei, a 32-year-old active member of RPF/PLA.

In the second operation, a joint team raided a rented house at Sagolband Thingom Leikai, resulting in the arrest of three KCP (PWG) cadres identified as Oinam Shantikeshor Singh, Kangabam Sony Chanu, and Leishangthem Uma Devi. The trio, hailing from Bishnupur, Imphal West, and Kakching districts respectively, were allegedly involved in serving monetary demands and collecting money through threats from various shops in the valley area.

In the third operation under Wangoi Police Station, security forces arrested Leimapokpam Abem Chanu, another active KCP (PWG) cadre, at Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai. A resident of Bishnupur Chanu was implicated in extortion activities targeting oil pumps in the valley area.

All seized items have been taken into evidence, and investigations are underway to uncover further links and activities of these cadres. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to assist in maintaining law and order in the state.
