48 Hours On, No Trace Of Two Workers Abducted From NHIDCL Road Project Site in Assam

The police team has been camping in the area and launched a search operation.

Over 48 hours have passed by, there is still no trace of the two workers of a construction firm who were abducted by armed miscreants. The two abducted workers of the Anusha Project Private Limited (APPL) company remain untraceable.

The victims have been identified as Abdul Kadir, a resident of Ashimganj in Karimganj district and Iqbal Laskar a resident of Shabad village under Hailakandi district.

The abducted victims were engaged in the construction of the Mahur-Tamenglong road were abducted by an unknown armed miscreant on Friday night in the Nianglo Lungria area under Mahur police station.

While speaking to Northeast Live, Sushil Kumar Srivastava, Senior Project Manager at the construction company, said that they have requested support from the administration or else the road project will get affected.

Srivastava also added that since Assam Rifles has been withdrawn from Hejaichak, and activities of miscreants have increased, a sense of fear now prevails among the workers.

Meanwhile, the police team has been camping in the area and launched a search operation.

However, no ransom call has been received so far as well.

APPL is currently engaged in the construction of the Mahur-Tamenlong road, a NHIDCL road expansion project. APPL was working on the 60 kilometer stretch to convert it into a 2 lane road.
