3 Northeast Students Shine in IMD’s National Meteorological Olympiad, Secure Top Ranks

Tanmoy Kashyap from St. Vivekananda English Academy, Maligaon, secured the 2nd rank.

As many as 3 students from the Northeast have made their region proud by securing top ranks in the National Meteorological Olympiad (Met-Olympiad), conducted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) as part of its 150th Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 14.

They have secured 2nd, and 3rd ranks in 8th,9th and 11th standard olympiads at the National level respectively.

Tanmoy Kashyap from St. Vivekananda English Academy, Maligaon, secured the 2nd rank, while Dishant Bezbaruah from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Nirjuli, and Samrat Das from Delhi Public School, Dimapur, both achieved 3rd rank.

These students received accolades from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a grand ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

They were awarded cash prizes and mementos for their outstanding achievements.

The National Meteorological Olympiad, organized by IMD in association with the South Asian Meteorological Association (SAMA) and the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), aims to promote interest and awareness about weather and climate sciences among students across the country.

The event brought together state-level winners from across India, who participated in a workshop and the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of IMD in New Delhi on 14th January 2025.
