As many as three individuals have been arrested for impersonating Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s son Jay Shah in a fake call scam targeting Manipur MLAs. The accused were arrested in Uttarakhand and later brought to Imphal for further investigation.

According to Manipur Police, the trio had contacted several MLAs in February 2025, shortly after the resignation of the then Chief Minister. They posed as HM Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah and demanded large sums of money, promising the MLAs consideration for the Chief Minister’s post.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Uvaish Ahmed from Etah district in Uttar Pradesh, and Gaurav Nath and Priyansu Pant, both from Ghazipur in East Delhi.

Following two FIRs registered at the Imphal Police Station, authorities launched a probe that led to the arrests. The accused have been charged with cheating and impersonation under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
