14-Year old Boy Killed, Two Injured as Suspected Bomb Explodes in Assam’s Tamulpur

Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation to determine the source and nature of the explosive.

A 14-year-old boy died, and two others sustained injuries when a suspected bomb exploded at Bogajuli Dholpara in Tamulpur district, Assam.

The incident occurred after two boys reportedly found the explosive device near a dong (rivulet) and brought it home, where it detonated, killing one on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Ima Boro, while the injured have been identified as 10-year old Mohit Basumatary, and 35-year old Nijara Ramchiary. Both are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation to determine the source and nature of the explosive.

According to the police, the blast occured due to a suspected mortar explosion. Police suspect that the suspected mortar might have been washed away from the Darranga Military camp.

Meanwhile, Tamulpur MLA Jolen Daimary has termed the incident as unfortunate and has urged the SP to properly investigate and find the source of the suspected mortar.
