11th Manipur Sangai Festival 2022: CM Biren Singh launches theme song

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today launched the official theme song titled “Manipur” for the upcoming 11th Manipur Sangai Festival, 2022, during an event held at the CM Secretariat in Imphal.
Preparations are in full swing for the Sangai Festival, which will be held from November 21 to 30 at 13 venues across the state.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Biren Singh appealed to the people across the length and breadth of the country as well as foreign tourists to visit Manipur and take part in the celebration.


The Chief Minister further highlighted that cultural exchange between indigenous people of the Northeast will be held as a part of the festival’s special feature.

He further said that apart from modern polo, which originated in Manipur, also traditionally known as ‘Sagol Kangjei’, other indigenous games will also be showcased.

On the other hand, speaking to North East Live, the ever-elegant Manipuri folk singer Mang-ka Maya-nglam-bam, who sang the theme song, also appealed one and all to visit Manipur and enjoy the festival.

Notably, the festival will be organised after a gap of 2 years owing to the COVID pandemic. Tourism director W. Ibohal said that tourist footfall is expected to be higher than in previous years.
