Kanchanpur Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Tripura which is part of North Tripura district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. Kanchanpur village is located in Dasda Tehsil of North Tripura district.Dasda is nearest town to Kanchanpur village for all major economic activities. Kanchanpur Census Town is estimated to have a population of about 21,000 in 2023.
Indigenous People’s Front Of Tripura (IPFT) candidate Prem Kumar Reang is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He won the seat for the party in the 2018 Assembly elections with 19,448 votes by defeating then-incumbent MLA of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) Rajendra Reang with a margin of 4131 votes. Rajendra Reang has won the seat several times- in 2013, 2008 and 2003 Assembly elections.
