Khriehu Liezietsu, a two-time MLA from the Northern Angami-I constituency, is the son of the former Chief Minister of Nagaland Shurhozelie Liezietsu. His father, the former CM, Shurhozelie is one of the most decorated educationists in Angami language literature. He is contesting against Kekhrielhoulie Yhome of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in the upcoming election. In the Assembly election 2018, he defeated Yhome by over 2,500 votes. Khriehu Liezietsu was first elected as MLA from the Northern Angami-I Assembly constituency in 2013 when he defeated Prasielie Pienyu of Congress.
