One patient had oral cancer, while the other suffered from nephrotic syndrome
Two COVID-19 patients, including a 14-year-old, died at King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital, Mumbai. Hospital authorities confirmed that both deaths were primarily caused by underlying health conditions, with COVID-19 acting as a contributing factor, reported Hindustan Times.
The deaths were reported last week.
One patient had oral cancer, while the other suffered from nephrotic syndrome. Both the deaths were attributed to their pre-existing conditions rather than Covid-19, ANI reported, quoting sources.
One of the patients was a 14-year-old girl who suffered from nephrotic syndrome, a kidney disease that led to kidney failure and another patient is a 54-year-old woman undergoing cancer treatment.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has clarified that while May has seen more Covid patients than the previous months, the illness is now an endemic and not a cause for panic. The BMC also said that The Seven Hills hospital and Kasturba hospital have designated beds for Covid, which can be ramped up with necessity, said Hindustan Times report.
The minor patient, a 14-year-old, was reportedly suffering from nephrotic syndrome, a kidney disorder that had progressed to kidney failure. The second patient, aged 54, was undergoing cancer treatment at the time of admission.
