Served in a pure silver cup and topped with 24-carat edible gold leaf, it’s more than just a drink.

Will you pay Rs 1 lakh for a single cup of tea? It sounds unbelievable, but that’s exactly what’s happening at Boho Cafe in Dubai, where an Indian-origin entrepreneur has turned a simple cup of Karak tea into a luxury sensation. But what makes this tea so special, and why is it causing such a stir? Let’s dig into the story behind the now-famous “Gold Karak” tea that’s taken the city by storm.

Owned by Sucheta Sharma, Boho Cafe is offering this extravagant “Gold Karak” tea priced at a jaw-dropping AED 5000 (approximately Rs 1.14 lakhs).

Served in a pure silver cup and topped with 24-carat edible gold leaf, it’s more than just a drink, it’s a statement.

Alongside the tea, customers get a gold-dusted croissant and silverware that they can keep as souvenirs.

Located in the heart of Dubai’s luxury district at the Emirates Financial Towers, Boho Cafe offers a unique experience with its dual menu system.

On one side, you will find affordable Indian street food, and on the other, lavish items like Gold Souvenir Coffee, gold-topped ice cream, and, of course, the headline-grabbing “Gold Karak” tea.

A viral video by a food vlogger showed the “Gold Karak” tea, highlighting its luxurious presentation and staggering cost, sparking curiosity and heated debates on social media. Many users are wondering: is it worth the splurge, or is it just an over-the-top gimmick?

One user said, “Never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d have to take an EMI for a cup of tea!” while another said, “Do I need to declare this to customs after drinking it?” Some, however, have criticized the price, calling it “diplomatic robbery,” arguing that even with the silver cutlery and gold leaf, the cost should not exceed 700 AED (Rs 15,722).

Despite the divided opinions, the allure of sipping on gold-infused tea in a high-end setting has continued to draw in curious customers. So, is it an indulgence worth every penny, or a flashy extravagance with a hefty price tag? The debate rages on.
