Sahitya Sanskriti Adda: A Grand Indian Classical Evening in Guwahati

The Grand Indian Classical Evening was a cultural odyssey that lingered in the hearts of spectators long after the final curtain call.

Sahitya Sanskriti Adda-Guwahati, a newly formed voluntary organization dedicated to promoting literature, culture, and civic issues of urban Guwahati, organised ‘The Grand Indian Classical Evening’ on February 18 at Progjyoti, ITA, Machkhowa.

The event was a mesmerizing confluence of tradition, rhythm, and artistic brilliance, celebrating the depth and richness of Indian classical music and dance.

From the first note to the final crescendo, the evening transported the audience into a realm where melody met divinity and rhythm resonated with the soul.

Renowned vocalists showcased the grandeur of Hindustani traditions, while instrumentalists created an ethereal ambiance with the violin, sarod, and tabla.

The Kathak dancer added a visual spectacle to the musical extravaganza, embodying grace, precision, and storytelling finesse.

The audience, comprising classical music connoisseurs, responded with enthusiastic applause and moments of awed silence.

The performers included Sanjukta Phukan on violing, Mousumi Sen on Vocals, Pandit Ranajit Sengupta on Sarod, Subhojyoti Guha on Tabla, Hiranmoy Mitra on Harmonium, Pandit Samar Saha on Tabla and Alokpurna Guha on Kathak.

At a time when classical traditions often struggle to find mainstream recognition, Sahitya Sanskriti Adda-Guwahati’s initiative reaffirmed the timeless beauty and relevance of Indian classical music. More than just a performance, The Grand Indian Classical Evening was a cultural odyssey that lingered in the hearts of spectators long after the final curtain call.
