Assam CM Rebukes Bangladesh for Provocation on Chicken’s Neck
First Published: 25th May, 2025 20:43 IST
Assam CM said Bangladesh’s first chicken’s neck is the 80 Km North Bangladesh Corridor- from Dakhin Dinajpur to South West Garo Hills.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today gave it back to Bangladesh over the latter’s attempts to provoke India over the Siliguri Corridor also known as the Chickcen’s Neck.
Taking to X, CM Sarma stated that those who habitually threaten India on the “Chicken Neck Corridor”, should note the fact that Bangladesh has two of its own “Chicken Necks” and both are far more vulnerable.
The Assam CM added that Bangladesh’s first chicken’s neck is the 80 Km North Bangladesh Corridor- from Dakhin Dinajpur to South West Garo Hills. Any disruption here can completely isolate the entire Rangpur division from the rest of Bangladesh.
Second, he said, is the 28 km Chittagong Corridor, from South Tripura till the Bay of Bengal. This corridor, smaller than India’s chicken neck, is the only link between Bangladesh’s economic capital and political capital.
In a sarcastic dig, CM Sarma said that he was only presenting geographical facts that some may tend to forget. Just like India’s Siliguri Corridor, our neighbouring country is also embedded with two narrow corridors of theirs, he added.
