Debbarma criticized Chief Minister Manik Saha for holding multiple ministerial portfolios, including Home, Health, Education, and PWD.
Animesh Debbarma, leader of opposition in Tripura, has strongly criticized the BJP government in the state and said that it has failed to fulfill its commitments regarding employment, good governance, law and order, and development.
He called upon Chief Minister Manik Saha to venture out of his office in Agartala and personally assess the situation in rural areas to understand the ground reality.
He pointed out that despite the government’s claims of progress, the reality on the ground reveals a lack of basic amenities and financial hardships for the people.
Addressing a press conference held on Wednesday evening in Agartala, Debbarma criticized Chief Minister Manik Saha for holding multiple ministerial portfolios, including Home, Health, Education, and PWD.
Debbarma, who is also a senior leader of the TIPRA Motha party, noted the lack of enthusiasm among common people during the recent Durga Puja festival, reflected the delayed payments and work under the MGNREGS, which affected the participation of the economically disadvantaged.
The opposition leader also raised concerns about corruption within the government, claiming that only a select few from the ruling party are benefiting financially, leading to capital outflow from the state.
Debbarma emphasized that the government has not lived up to its promises in providing healthcare, education, employment, clean drinking water, housing, security, and controlling inflation.
He stressed the need for tangible development on the ground rather than mere promotional posters and called for greater consideration of the opposition legislators’ input.
Expressing the concerns of the public, the opposition leader warned that if these issues are not addressed promptly, it could lead to unforeseen protests and consequences.
