Two Rohingyas apprehended in Tripura for illegally crossing border

The two apprehended youths have been identified as Md Rabi Ulla and Md Siddik, along with a local auto-rickshaw driver identified as Prabir Das.
At least two Rohingyas along with a local auto-rickshaw driver were apprehended on Sunday at Bishalgarh, a town located along the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
They were apprehended during the early hours of Sunday when police were checking vehicles at Uttam Bhakt Chowmuhani on the national highway under Bishalgarh subdivision in the district.
The two apprehended youths have been identified as Md Rabi Ulla and Md Siddik, and the local auto-rickshaw driver identified as Prabir Das.
The auto-rickshaw was intercepted by the police on its route from Agartala to Bishalgarh.
Inspector Tapas Das in-charge of Bishalgarh police station, mentioned that the individuals intended to travel from the Agartala railway station to Madhupur, then cross the border and enter Bangladesh.
During preliminary investigation, the accused revealed that they were staying at Rohingya camp in Cox Bazaar.
The state police along with Border Security Force (BSF) intelligence personnel are currently interrogating them.
During the investigation, it was found that the arrested youths, fluent in Hindi, were working for a long time in some Northern States and were returning to Bangladesh through Tripura.
A case has been registered against them under the Passport Act and Foreigners Act.
Further investigation is underway.
