Tripura, Manipur, Assam records high voter turnout till 11 am

Polling is going on in 88 parliamentary constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories in the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

The northeastern states of Tripura, Manipur and Assam have recorded impressive voter turnout, with Tripura emerging as the frontrunner with 36.42 per cent, Manipur with a turnout of 33.22 per cent and Assam with a 27.43 per cent polling till 11 am on Friday as second phase of voting continues in these three states and 10 other states and Union Territories.

The enthusiastic response from voters reflects the significant engagement and interest in the ongoing democratic process.

By 9 am, Tripura East recorded a voter turnout of 16.97 per cent, Manipur recorded 15.49 per cent and Assam 9.71 per cent.

Polling is taking place for 88 parliamentary constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories. 

Polling started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, with an additional hour provided for voters already in line by the Election Commission. 

Approximately 15.88 crore voters, including 8.08 crore men, 7.8 crore women, and 5,929 third-gender electors, are eligible to vote in this phase. Among them are 3.28 crore young voters aged 20–29, including 34.8 lakh first-time voters.
