Tripura: Major fire breaks out at Agartala, 8-10 shops gutted

A devastating fire broke out on Friday night in the cooperative area near Panchabati on the airport road in Tripura’s capital, Agartala. A total of eight to ten shops, including a showroom of electric three-wheelers, were gutted in the fire.

So far, no casualties have been reported.

Although the exact cause of the fire is still unknown, firefighters said a preliminary investigation pointed to a short-circuit as a possible cause.

According to firefighter official Dipak Debbarma, six firefighting engines brought the fire under control, but the firefighters were completely destroyed by the fire.

Dr Dilip Das, a local MLA, rushed to the scene after receiving information and spoke with the victims. Das has assured that an investigation and assessment of the damage will take place so that the government can assist the victims.
