The arrests were made by the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, Border Security Force, and other security agencies
Authorities in Tripura have launched a crackdown on touts or middlemen in a bid to check the unabated influx of Bangladeshis in the state.
As many as five touts, including two Bangladeshi nationals, have been arrested in the last three days as part of the crackdown.
The arrests were made by the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, Border Security Force, and other security agencies.
In the last 24 hours, two Indian touts, Biblab Karmakar and Bishal Datta, were arrested at Agartala railway station for facilitating Bangladeshi infiltrators to cross the border and travel to other states illegally.
Earlier, a Bangladeshi tout was arrested by the GRP from Agartala’s bordering Joynagar area in connection to the infiltration of four Bangladeshi nationals.
Additionally, two more Indian touts were arrested by the Amtali police two days ago.
The arrests come as a growing concern about illegal border crossings and infiltration in the region.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier arrested more than 20 touts from various parts of Tripura.
The security forces are taking strong measures to stop infiltration from the roots, and the recent arrests are a part of this effort. The arrested touts have been produced in court, and further investigation is underway.
