Tripura: 23 Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested at Agartala Rail Station in Major Security Operation

As many as 23 Bangladesh nationals were apprehended at the Agartala rail station, in Tripura on Saturday. Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Agartala, confirmed the arrests today.
The operation was a coordinated effort by the Government Railway Police(GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies.
Das said that acting on a specific tip-off, the agencies laid a trap at the rail station, leading to the successful detention of the individuals.
The detained nationals were reportedly about to board a special train, intending to leave the state.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Agartala said, “We got a tip at noon that huge number of Bangladeshis were about to board a special train. We coordinated with Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies and detained a total of 23 Bangladeshis. They came to India without valid documents by illegally crossing the border. We have registered specific cases against them under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, the Passport Act, and the Foreigners Act. Today, all 23 individuals will be produced before the court, with the police seeking a remand for further investigation.”
