Agartala-Sabroom train hits a stone-laden trolley left on the tracks but all passengers safe
It was a narrow escape for the hundreds of passengers on board the Agartala-Sabroom train on Saturday morning. A major tragedy was averted even as the train hit a stone-laden trolley left on the tracks but the driver managed to stop the train without the train getting derailed.
The accident occurred near Gautamnagar close to Bishalgarh rail station in Sepahijala district of Tripura.
According to a passenger, the train destined for Sabroom left Agartala station at 10:50 AM and after crossing Sekerkote station at 11:30 AM, the train collided with something that produced a huge noise, causing fear among the passengers.
Later as the train came to a halt the passengers rushed out to safety and discovered that it had collided with a stone-laden trolley as workers were engaged in some work on the railway track.
The train remained stranded at the same location for more than two hours, causing great inconvenience to the passengers.
Officials from GRP, RPF, and the railway department arrived at the accident scene.
The incident has highlighted the negligent attitude of the lineman and the station master of Bishalghar station. Passengers raised questions about their safety and asked why the stone-laden trolley was left on the rail track during while the tracks were operational.
