TIPRA Motha founder and Royal Scion Pradyot Debbarma today lamented that while Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the top officials were cooperative there was a disconnect on the ground which often makes TIPRA Motha feel that it is not a part of the government.

He raised significant concerns about the apparent exclusion of his team from the government’s consultative processes. He also revealed unhappiness over the lack of coordination and consultation with various government departments when seeking relief and support for floods in the state.

“I do not feel like we are part of the government. Many times, we have approached various departments of the government to ask for relief and were told that they would work through their own channel without consulting us. So, at times I do not feel that we are not part of the consultative process and if we are not part of the consultative process, we do not feel like we are part of the government,” said Debbarma.

Debbarma expressed concerns about the ongoing disconnect between his party and the ruling party, despite formal alliances at higher levels.

He said that while alliances may have been established at the top, significant gaps remain at the grassroots level, which he believes is detrimental to the state.

” We (TIPRA Motha) do have two Ministers in the Tripura government and we have been trying our best. I have personally gone and met the District Magitrates. They also have been very cooperative. I have spoken to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha who has been very kind. He always responded whenever I called up, but implementation on the ground needs to have proper coordination. So somehow I still feel that in many cases the alliance may have been made on the top, but on the ground, there is still a lot of distance between us and the ruling party which is not good for the state,” said Debbarma.
