The fuel shortage prevailing in both the states owing to disruption in rail services due to the landslide in Assam's Dima Hasao is likely to ease further in a day
In a breather for both Tripura and Mizoram, the second oil freight train has crossed the landslide- affected site between Jatinga Lampur and New Harangajao in Assam’s Dima Hasao district this afternoon at around 2 PM.
Inputs suggest that 25 wagons of oil will be reaching Dharmanagar in Tripura while the remaining 25 wagons will be reaching Moinarband in Silchar from where it will be transported to Mizoram.
The fuel shortage prevailing in both the states owing to disruption in rail services due to the landslide in Assam’s Dima Hasao is likely to ease further in a day or two.
In Mizoram, petrol pumps across the state are selling whatever supply they receive. On Sunday, two of the Mizofed petrol pumps in Aizawl sold 32,000 litres of petrol to the public. Their pumps were opened till 5 PM.
Rohinliana (Chatea), Manager of Treasury Square branch Mizofed petrol pump said that they have been selling petrol to the public from 12 noon on Sunday; and that depending upon their petrol supply after 5 PM, they will consider selling the remaining petrol on Monday to the public or only for those with coupons.
He added that diesel is available to the public as supply have reached Moinarbond oil depot near Silchar; and that several tankers are enroute to Guwahati for petrol supply, and are expecting more tankers to enter Vairengte on Monday.
Several petrol pumps across the State will open to the public from Monday, and Zangen petrol pump in Aizawl, which opens 24/7 will start selling petrol as soon as tankers reach on Sunday night.
Yesterday, CM Manik Saha had informed that the first rake carrying petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) had safely crossed the landslide affected site between Jatinga Lampur and New Harangajao and was expected to reach Tripura Sunday night itself. This had ended almost 16 days of dry spell as far as Tripura’s fuel supply is concerned.
Following a two-week delay caused by the landslide in Assam, the disruption in the supply chain had left Tripura grappling with a severe shortage of fuel, leading to widespread inconvenience and uncertainty among residents.
