NH-10 will remain open to all vehicles on May 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18

Traffic movement along the crucial Sevoke–Rangpo stretch of NH-10, the only road link connecting West Bengal to Sikkim will be completely closed on May 15, 17, and 19.

The full-day closures come as part of emergency repair work aimed at ensuring the long-term safety and stability of the highway, which is prone to landslides and structural vulnerabilities.

According to the revised schedule, NH-10 will remain open to all vehicles on May 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18, however, only commercial vehicles with a laden weight of up to 10 metric tons will be permitted.

On May 15, 17, and 19, the highway will be completely closed to all traffic between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with no movement allowed for heavy goods vehicles during this period.

Movement of vehicles associated with infrastructure work including those operated by NHIDCL, IRCON, and NHPC may be allowed in restricted zones depending on operational needs.

Authorities have advised commuters, transport operators, and local businesses to plan accordingly and avoid unnecessary travel during closure hours.

Officials stressed that these temporary restrictions are essential to carry out critical repair work and enhance the long-term safety of the highway, which is prone to landslides, particularly during the monsoon.
