Sikkim flash flood day 5: 89 stranded tourists safely evacuated from Lachen and Lachung

In the FIR, the family has alleged that the 5-year-old girl died because anti-venom was not administered to her on time by the hospital authorities
The relief and rescue operations have picked up pace in Sikkim, with the Army beginning the evacuation process from North Sikkim.
A total of 89 tourists stranded in Lachen and Lachung have been safely airlifted to Mangan today. From Mangan, tourists are en route to Gangtok in SNT buses.
The government has arranged their stay at Gangtok today, and they will be sent to Siliguri tomorrow in SNT buses.
The ITBP today evacuated as many as 56 civilians from Chungthang in North Sikkim.
At least 52 lives have been lost, over 140 are still missing, and over 41,000 people have been affected by the flash floods, which are also the worst disaster to hit the Himalayan state in recent years.
As per data accessed by Northeast Live, over 1500 houses have been damaged in the flash floods in the state. The number of people rescued stands at 2563, while 2573 people have been evacuated.
Earlier in the day, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the affected Dikchu area to take stock of the damage caused and to provide immediate relief to the affected people.
It was reported that a total of 11 houses have been damaged.
The Chief Minister handed over Rs 50,000 to each affected family as emergency relief, assuring further support from the government after a thorough assessment of the damage. He also visited the Dikchu Dam site.
