In a proud moment for Sikkim, senior cricketer Palzor Tamang has signed a six-month contract with Felling Cricket Club in England, becoming only the second player from the state to secure an overseas club contract.
Tamang has already reached England and will represent Felling Cricket Club across various tournaments, including the ECB-affiliated North East Premier League, which is part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Premier League structure, said the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA).
A prolific seam bowler and a dependable all-rounder, Tamang has been an integral figure in Sikkim’s domestic cricket circuit since his debut in the 2018–19 season.
He etched his name into the record books in January 2020, becoming the first homegrown cricketer from the state to take a five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. He further cemented his legacy by becoming the first player from Sikkim to reach 50 first-class wickets.
In the 2023–24 season, Tamang scored his maiden first-class century against Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing his value as a true all-rounder.
That same season, he took on the role of captain of the Sikkim Senior Men’s Team, where he impressed with his calm leadership and clear sense of purpose.
Beyond cricket, Tamang serves as an Inspector in the Sikkim Police, balancing his dual roles with admirable dedication.
His overseas stint is well-timed, concluding just before the start of the upcoming Indian domestic season, where he is expected to once again represent Sikkim.
This international exposure is not only a milestone in Tamang’s personal journey but also a reflection of the growing stature of cricket in Sikkim.
The Sikkim Cricket Association congratulated Tamang on this significant achievement and wished him continued success during his time in England and beyond.
