Padam Gurung death case: 10 more witnesses record statements before one-man Judicial Enquiry Commission

The 10 witnesses include family members of the deceased, generalm secretary of All Sikkim Gurung (TAMU) Buddhist Association and CEO/Namchi Smart City Limited.
The one-man Judicial Enquiry Commission headed by Justice N.K. Jain, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim, probing the death of Sikkim student leader Padam Gurung, today recorded the statements of 10 more witnesses.
The 10 witnesses include family members of the deceased, general secretary of All Sikkim Gurung (TAMU) Buddhist Association and CEO/Namchi Smart City Limited.
As per a notification issued by RK Rai, Senior Private Secretary, Judicial Inquiry Commission, Namchi, the Commission will its hearing till August 28. The Commission through the notification conveyed, “Whosoever, interested in the case, may appear and produce oral or documentary evidence upto August 28. Thereafter no complaint or evidence will be entertained.”
On August 24, the one-man Commission had recorded the statements of 7 witnesses.
On August 22, the one-man Judicial Enquiry Commission headed by Justice N.K. Jain, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim, probing the death of Sikkim student leader Padam Gurung, recorded the statements of 14 more witnesses at Namchi.
The owner of Hotel Crossroads and the hotel’s staff members, who were with Padam Gurung on the day of the incident were among those who had recorded their statements.
The one-man Judicial Enquiry Commission, to probe the death case of Sikkim Student leader Padam Gurung began its probe on July 26.
On the first day of the hearing, the Commission recorded the statements of eight witnesses, namely Dawa Lhamu Pahkrin, SHO, Namchi PS, Ankur Ankesh, SP, CID, Kessang Dorjee Bhutia, SDPO, Jorethang Siddharth Subba, SI, Namchi P.S., Parshuram Sharma, ASP, SDPO, Namchi, Sawan Gurung, PI,Namchi Police Station, Dharmaraj Chettri, Head constable, Namchi P.S.
On the second day of the hearing on July 27, a total of fourteen witnesses, including Tara Pradhan, Subhash Gurung, Secretary Welfare of All Sikkim (TAMU) Buddhist Association, Gangtok, Manika Pradhan, an eyewitness, Durga Prasad Pradhan, appeared before the Judicial Commission and gave their oral statements.
On the third day of hearing on July 28, the Commission had recorded the statements of 13 witnesses at Namchi.
A total of 66 persons have recorded their statements before the Judicial Inquiry Commission so far.
