For those on the revised basic pay structure, the DA will increase from 46% to 50%.
The Sikkim government has announced a hike of 9 per cent in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) rates for government employees and pensioners, effective January 1, 2024.
According to the latest circular from the Department, that DA will rise from 230% to 239% for workers drawing pay under the pre-revised basic pay structure. This update follows the earlier circular dated June 17, 2024.
For those on the revised basic pay structure, the DA will increase from 46% to 50%. This decision is in line with the recommendations of the Pay Committee, as endorsed by the State Government.
The revised DA rates will extend to contract-based employees and those in work-charged establishments who are on regular pay scales of the State Government, said the circular.
The DA of All India Services officers under the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC) will be raised to 239% for those under the 7th CPC, and to 50% for those under the pre-revised pay band/grade pay.
Additionally, the circular said that any fractional amounts of 50 paise or more in DA/DR payments will be rounded up to the next higher rupee, while amounts below 50 paise will be disregarded.
This revision comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact of inflation and support the livelihood of state employees and pensioners.
