The notification further said, anyone of the spouses can claim for advance increment on mutual understanding.

The Sikkim government has granted advance increment to the state government employees possessing Sikkim Subject Certificate/Certificate of Identification.

As per the norms, the advanced increment:
1 (one) advance increment shall be provided for having 2 (two) surviving children.
1 (one) additional increment shall be provided for having 3 (three) surviving children.

As per a notification issued by the Sikkim government, the scheme shall be effective from January 1, 2023 and only those employees whose 2nd and 3rd child is born on or after January 1, 2023 shall be eligible for the scheme.

The notification further said, anyone of the spouses can claim for advance increment on mutual understanding.

However, the scheme shall not be applicable in case of adoption.

Earlier, in January this year, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had announced increments and financial support to state government employees willing to bear more than two children.

Chief Minister Tamang had said that employees with 2 children will get one increment and those with more than two children will get two increments.

These measures are part of the Sikkim government’s initiatives to encourage Sikkimese families to give birth to more children amid plummeting fertility rates.
