NSF has also suspended its ongoing agitation until further notice. However, the Federation will continue to press for justice to be delivered at the earliest

The Naga Students Federation (NSF) today resolved to “De-recognise” un-mandated group of individuals who claims themselves to be the Naga Club and has been claiming sole ownership of the Naga Club building which the NSF has been zealously safeguarding as its custodian. NSF has also suspended its ongoing agitation until further notice.

Amid the row over the vandalisation of its central office in Kohima, NSF today held an emergency consultative meeting wherein it has taken a few resolutions.

Resolving not to recognise the un-mandated group of individuals who claims themselves to be the Naga Club, NSF said that the present Naga Club was formed recently by a few individuals with vested interest by roping in some few descendants of the original Naga Club members.

Adding that Naga Club belongs to all the Naga people and no individual or group can claim ownership of the same, it resolved to let the Naga people decide as to whether the Naga issue, the Naga political history and the resulting rights of the Naga people can be owned and inherited by some individuals.

The meeting also resolved to let the Naga people decide if it is necessary to resurrect the Naga club and whether it is still relevant in the current context. It said that the Naga people should collectively decide on the fate of the Naga club and not be duped by stories that are hardly even half true.

It was decided that NSF would be agreeable to the Naga Club if it is properly restructured with the collective mandate of the Naga people. Its ideology and principles should be grounded in the contents of the Memorandum submitted by the then Naga Club to the Simon Commission in 1929.

The seniors and members present resolved to recommend that the current NSF workers begin the regular operation of the NSF office by erecting a temporary pandal starting on May 31, 2023.

NSF has also suspended its ongoing agitation until further notice. However, the Federation will continue to press for justice to be delivered at the earliest.

So far 4 persons including a JCB driver have been arrested by the police for allegedly involved in the vandalisation.
