Mizoram Polls 2023: ZPM chief Lalduhoma hits back at MNF, says MNF party polluted and diluted

First Published: 3rd November, 2023 14:18 IST

Lalduhoma also rejected the 'diluted, polluted party' tag labelled by the MNF on ZPM

The war of words between the Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has escalated to a new high. ZPM chief Lalduhoma has come out all guns blazing against MNF terming ZPM as the most polluted and diluted party.

In fact, Lalduhoma believes that the MNF is no longer a genuine regional party.

Lalduhoma’s sharp attack on the MNF comes days after Chief Minister Zoramthanga mentioned the ZPM as Khichdi (mixture of things) and a party which is diluted and polluted in terms of its ideology.

According to Lalduhoma, the MNF has lost its identity.

He said, “MNF even though they are a regional party by name, but being a member of NEDA and NDA, they have lost their identity, they have lost their orignality and they are now polluted and diluted party, no longer a genuine regional party.”

Lalduhoma has also rejected allegations that his party has entered into a secret deal with the BJP. He said that the ZPM leadership never wish to be dictated by the central leaders in Delhi.

Rejecting such claims made by the Opposition, Lalduhoma said, “As far as BJP is concerned the fact is that the MNF is a part and parcel of NDA and NEDA. It is very clear that there is no room for any other party, even if they are willing to join. MNF is already there, so there is no question of ZPM aligning with the BJP, either openly or secretly, its not so, we are quite different in principles and policy. We do not want to be dictated from Delhi. We want to take the final decision in our own hands.”

Lalduhoma also lashed out at the Congress for spreading propaganda. The ZPM leader also turned down speculations arising out of this propaganda which gives an impression that the grand old party is aligning with the Congress.

Lalduhoma said, “BJP is talking about formation of a coalition government with my party and the same thing is being said by the Congress people. They say that if anyone leaves their party, then don’t join ZPM because we are going to form a coalition government with them. This is the only difference that they have. People are running out of them, so they are trying to stop them.

A party who could not even dare to claim formation of the govt on their own, that means it is really in a poor shape. So this is their propaganda and there has never been any dialogue between us. We are not going to need any party for the formation of the government.”

However, the ZPM leader is pretty confident of storming to power after the elections.

A confident Lalduhoma said, “You have seen in the past, it has been the voting behaviour of the people to vote in a negative manner. The government of the day was just overthrown because they were fed up with them. But this time we are hoping to form the government with a positive note. They (people) want corruption free government and a better government. So what we promise and what we offer to the people is a new system which will be quite different from the previous governments. So we are very very confident of forming a government with comfortable majority. We are very sure to have a landslide victory.”
