MP C. Lalrosanga said that he will continue to work inside and outside the Parliament for ‘kanunaute’ (our kindred brothers and sisters) in Manipur

In a big allegation, Mizoram’s lone Lok Sabha MP from Mizo National Front C. Lalrosanga, who fought a lot to raise the Manipur issue in Parliament said that suddenly many NDA MPs stopped talking to him and they refused to shake hands with him, making him feel like an “untouchable”.

“Some of them refused to reply even when I spoke to them, while there were others who were looking at me like I had suddenly become untouchable, and even some NDA MPs refused to shake hands,” Lalrosanga, said on Saturday, adding that the BJP-led government at the centre is afraid of raising the Manipur issue in Parliament.

Speaking to the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) youth leaders in Aizawl, Lalrosanga said that he asked the NDA leadership to speak about the Manipur violence, which was flatly turned down.

The MP said that some NDA members did not want to speak to him because of his stance on the violence in the neighbouring state.

“I was not allowed to raise the issue of Manipur turmoil. I came home with a heavy heart. The Lok Sabha speaker also rejected my pleas to raise the Manipur issue in Parliament, while Manipur MPs are also not allowed to speak on the issue in Parliament,” he said.

The MP further said that he will continue to work inside and outside the Parliament for ‘kanunaute’ (our kindred brothers and sisters) in Manipur, as he is with them in the time of their suffering.

“I continued to remain courageous and even defiant due to the support of the MNF members and the people of Mizoram,” he said, adding that his stand on the Manipur issues invited the ire of the leaders of the central government.

He said that he informed Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress MP who moved the no-confidence motion, that he would support the no-trust move, but solely on the Manipur issue.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking on the No-confidence motion on Manipur in the Lok Sabha, assured that peace will soon be restored in the troubled state.

PM Modi also assured the strictest punishment against the culprits involved in the crime against women in the state.

Replying to a debate, PM Modi said, ” “Hamare liye northeast jigar ka tukda hai (For us, the northeast is a part of our heart)”.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who addressed the Lok Sabha on the no confidence motion on Manipur on Wednesday accused the Congress of politicising the Manipur issue.
