SP Vivek Syiem also said that all three- Silome, Balbir, and Lokendra have been found to be involved in destroying evidence
In a major revelation in the brutal murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem today said that Sonam Raghuvanshi, the victim’s wife, and co-accused Raj Kushwaha have admitted to being in a love relationship and the preliminary findings suggest that their affair and individual business interests may have motivated the crime.
Speaking to the media, SP Syiem said, “Both of them (Sonam and Raj) run their own companies. They have a relationship. Apparently, it appears that their interest in furthering their respective businesses and their affair could be the motive behind killing Raja Raghuvanshi. Nothing beyond this has come to light at this stage, but the investigation is ongoing.”
Sharing updates on fresh arrests in the case, SP Syiem said that two individuals- Silome James, a property dealer, and Balbir Ahirbar, a security guard-cum-carpenter, who were arrested from Indore on May 22 were produced before the court on Monday, and police have secured a 7-day transit remand for both.
In addition, Lokendra Singh Tomar, the landlord of the flat at Dewas Naka in Indore where Sonam took shelter while evading arrest, was arrested on Monday and produced in court today. Police are now seeking transit remand for him as well.
SP Vivek Syiem also said that all three- Silome, Balbir, and Lokendra have been found to be involved in destroying evidence related to the murder, which is a criminal offence.
The investigation into the high-profile murder case continues, with police digging deeper into digital trails, financial transactions, and the wider conspiracy that may have led to Raja Raghuvanshi’s killing.
