Shrasti’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, confirmed that Assam Police had issued a notice about 15 days ago.

In another twist in the Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case that has grabbed nationwide attention, the deceased’s sister, Shrasti Raghuvanshi, is now under the police scanner. The Assam Police have filed an FIR against her under multiple serious charges, including Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), equivalent to the IPC’s murder provision, along with sections about incitement and promoting enmity.

Shrasti’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, confirmed that Assam Police had issued a notice about 15 days ago. Vipin said, “They asked to apologise, so we apologised. The police asked Srashti to provide them with all the evidence she had and apologise. Due to the reel on Instagram, Srashti’s followers are increasing, which has led the police to suspect that she is diverting the investigation in another direction.”

The move follows a spate of viral social media posts made by Shrasti, the sister of Raja Raghuvanshi. In several emotional Instagram reels, she accused her sister-in-law and prime accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, of being responsible for Raja’s death. One particularly inflammatory post described Raja as having been “sacrificed” by Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Authorities claim the post contained communal undertones.

Shrasti’s Instagram presence has become a flashpoint in the case. Her account, now boasting over 3.94 lakh followers, features a mix of grieving family videos and provocative statements targeting Sonam.

Some content drew widespread criticism for being promotional, including a controversial video uploaded just a day before Raja’s body was found, in which she promoted a mobile store in Indore. Many questioned her sincerity, especially given her use of hashtags like #like and #viral during the family’s mourning period.

The Assam Police have since summoned Shrasti for questioning. In response, the Raghuvanshi family issued a statement saying their intent was never to incite hatred or hurt religious sentiments. They asserted the posts stemmed from deep grief and a quest for justice.

It needs to be mentioned that, Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered on May 23 during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. The crime was allegedly orchestrated by his wife Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three others—Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurme.

So far 8 persons- Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, Anand Kurme, Shilom James, Balbir Ahirbar, a security guard-cum-carpenter, and Lokendra Singh Tomar, landlord of a flat in Indore where Sonam hid after the murder, have been arrested by the police.
