Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case: Police Recover Sonam and Raja’s Jewellery from Accused Shilom James’ Flat in Ratlam

In a major breakthrough in the murder case of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police has recovered jewellery belonging to Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam from a flat of the accused, Shilom James, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district today.

The SIT team led by SI Anthony Khongsit and SI Karan Pachua with the help of officers and men from Alkapuri PS took Shilom James to his flat in Ratlam today, where a search operation was carried out. During the search, police recovered the jewellery.

Apart from the jewellery, the team also recovered a laptop, pen drive, and several incriminating documents, all of which are considered crucial pieces of evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Earlier on June 26, following the lead provided by James, the SIT team recovered a country-made pistol, two magazines, and two rounds of .32 ammunition from a stream in Indore. Additionally, Rs 50,000 in cash was seized from Silom James’ personal vehicle.

According to police, he had allegedly taken the amount from a laptop bag belonging to prime accused Raj Kushwaha.

The bag was later burnt, and the laptop was reportedly dumped by the roadside but has not yet been recovered.

Shilom James, is a property dealer who had rented out a flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the main accused in the case who in turn handed over the keys to Sonam’s lover Raj Kushwaha.

He was arrested on June 22, and is currently under Meghalaya’s Police’s custody.

Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and 3 accomplices-Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurme on May 23 during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya.

So far 8 persons- Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, Anand Kurme, Shilom James, Balbir Ahirbar, a security guard-cum-carpenter, and Lokendra Singh Tomar, landlord of a flat in Indore where Sonam hid after the murder, have been arrested by the police.
