No internal rift, says Meghalaya cabinet minister and BJP leader AL Hek

AL Hek's statement assumes significance since Mawrie had earlier this month said that the minister should not speak against the party to the media
Meghalaya cabinet minister and BJP leader AL Hek said all is well and ruled out any sort of internal rift within the party.
Responding to a query on whether differences of opinion persists between him and Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie, Hek wondered and said, “Where do you see the differences? We are sitting in the office everyday, chatting for the party, having tea together. Do you see any differences? I don’t see.”
Hek replied to a query speculating “internal factions” within the BJP and said,”What is the internal faction? I don’t get that. I don’t understand… we are discussing about the progress of the party, thinking about the welfare of the party. Where do you find the internal bickering in the BJP. I don’t find it anywhere.”
AL Hek’s statement assumes significance since Mawrie had earlier this month said that the minister should not speak against the party to the media. As per reports, the Meghalaya BJP president had informed that the party was waiting for the central leadership’s directive on issuing a show cause notice to the minister for commenting on the need for a change in the state’s party leadership.
When asked about his opinion if he is served a showcause notice, Hek said,”Of course the thing is like this, anybody who talks against the party, a notice is issued it is regular, it is a routine matter. That routine matter everybody has to follow.”
“Anybody who is going against the party, is the prerogative of the leaders of the party to do the routine work. Nobody can avoid that one,”Hek maintained.
Worth mentioning, AL Hek Hek, who is the BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah constituency, had on April 30 said that the tenure of the state president is for two years and there was a need for an election. He had further said that he was ready to take up the responsibility of the Meghalaya BJP if the central leadership wished so.
