The NEHU VC claimed that the unrest has shifted from genuine student concerns to a platform for personal and political agendas
In a significant statement, NEHU VC PS Shukla has accused external groups of misleading students resulting in the ongoing agitation in the campus that has evolved into a “politically motivated conflict.”
In an open letter addressed to students, NEHU VC claimed that the unrest has shifted from genuine student concerns to a platform for personal and political agendas. He revealed that faculty and staff had faced threats, further complicating the situation.
The VC alleged that certain individuals, unconcerned about students’ education, have deliberately intensified the conflict.
The NEHU VC strongly criticised a few professors, accusing them of exploiting students to serve their personal interests. He maintained that these professors were central to the unrest and had misled students for selfish gains.
Despite the tense situation, Shukla reiterated his commitment to the well-being of students. He affirmed his willingness to engage in dialogue and work collaboratively with students to restore normalcy and rebuild the institution.
It may be mentioned here that the NEHU community, including teachers and students, has accused the VC of failing to foster academic growth and development during his tenure.
Earlier, it should be mentioned that NEHUSU and KSU have already resolved to prevent Prof. Shukla from entering the university campus, asserting that his leadership is counterproductive to the institution’s progress.
