NEDA Convener said that Meghalaya will be on the path of development if the BJP forms government on its own
After taking the Garo hills by storm, Assam Chief Minister and NEDA convener Himanta Biswa Sarma attended his first public meeting in Shillong on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering in the East Shillong constituency, the NEDA Convener said that Meghalaya will be on the path of development if the BJP forms a government on its own.
“Earlier, we used to contest 5 to 20 seats in Meghalaya. But we have realised that till BJP government is not formed in Meghalaya, development in the state is not possible. So we have decided to contest 60 seats, and we will form BJP government in the state” CM Sarma said.
Speaking on medical colleges in Meghalaya, Sarma said that the central government has sanctioned money for the construction of medical colleges in Tura, Shillong, and other parts of the state, adding that the BJP wants to see the construction of medical colleges physically.
“Central government has sanctioned money for the project like construction of medical college in Tura, Shillong, everywhere. Now we want to see those things physically. If it is not physically running, then it is for the government of Meghalaya to answer the people that why it is not there. We are not alleging anything; we are just asking where money has gone.” CM Sarma said.
Giving the example of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that last year the government decided to open one medical college in every district of the state. Today the work for 25 medical colleges and 10 medical colleges has started, adding by 2026, Assam will have total of 25 medical colleges.
CM Sarma also said that a state like Meghalaya deserved much more in terms of infrastructure.
Sarma also urged the people to break the lock that is stopping central funds from reaching them.
