The Education Minister said that the textbooks will contain both NCERT and local contents which will be provided by professors and experienced teachers of the state .

Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said that the state government has got the nod from NCERT for the necessary modifications in the textbooks prescribed for the schools in the state.

Sangma said that the textbooks will contain both NCERT and local contents which will be provided by professors and experienced teachers of the state .

The government has asked for an Expression of Interest (EOI) from NCERT for the printing of textbooks of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) for the upcoming academic year which is expected to be ready by the middle of January. An EOI means a statement by an organisation mentioning their intention to do a job or becoming involved in a business.

Earlier in November this year the Meghalaya Government had approved the use of NCERT textbooks based on certain modifications in certain subjects. A number of booksellers had written to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma opposing the move as it will have an adverse financial impact on their business.
