Meghalaya government to involve private parties for transparent police recruitment

The Meghalaya Government will involve private companies to ensure transparent recruitment in police department, Director General of Police LR Bishnoi said on Friday.

Bishnoi said tenders have already been invited from companies to conduct recruitments transparently by utilising up-to-date technology.

A 21-day deadline is set to finalize the bidder and by second week of February the tendering process will be finalized, the DGP added.

Speaking to media, Bishnoi said, “The government has already invited tenders from companies who will conduct the recruitment transparently by using up-to-date technology. We have given them 21 days time after which the bidder will be finalized. Once the tender is allocated to a particular company, advertisement will be released and the recruitment process will start.”

Bishnoi added that 3000 posts in the police will be filled up which is the largest police recruitment drive in Meghalaya so far.

Asked how the department is going to benefit from this, the DGP said that the strength of Meghalaya police so far is 17,500 and nearly 3200 posts are lying vacant. Once the 3000 newly recruited constables join the Meghalaya police force, the influence of the police will increase significantly .
