Meghalaya: BSF nabs 5 Bangladesh, 5 Indian nationals trying to enter India from Bangladesh

Acting on specific tip-off, alert troops of 04 Bn BSF Meghalaya apprehended five Bangladeshi and an equal number of Indians on Dawki- Amlarem road who were trying to illegally cross International Border from Bangladesh side and enter into India in West Jaintia Hills.

Apprehended Bangladesh nationals were residents of Sylhet and Habibganj in Bangladesh. On questioning they revealed that they infiltrated with intention to settle down in India permanently. The driver of the vehicle was also detained for facilitating their illicit movement, a BSF statement issued today said. The arrests were made yesterday.

All the 10 apprehended persons along with the seized items were handed over to PS Dawki, West Jaintia Hills for further course of action.

BSF has so far apprehended 26 Bangladesh nationals since January 2023 who illegally entered into India with intention of illegal migration.
