Many TMC MLAs will join NPP: Conrad Sangma

TMC is further breaking into another half within themselves. Many TMC MLAs are either going to join the NPP or other parties, Conrad said.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today informed that many Trinamool Congress MLAs in the state will be joining the National People’s Party (NPP) or other political parties.
Amid the speculations of political leaders jumping ship especially ahead of the 2023 assembly elections, Chief Minister Sangma’s statement assumes a lot of significance.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister when asked about the TMC making inroads in the state, he said, “the Congress broke into half, the TMC is further breaking into another half within themselves. Many TMC MLAs are either going to join the NPP or other political parties, and that will happen soon. I dont want to talk about it now. So TMC is going to further break. SO i dont know whether it is a sign for them to grow stronger or getting weaker, that I leave it to the people to decide.”
Elaborating on this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “The political scenario in Northeast and Meghalaya specially in the current situation, it is such that the TMC is a party which has just come in, though there are some instances in the past when they had come in. But they could not sustain and it could not build the organization and hence even today in the present situation the party is not acceptable as they think they are. The organization will take a long time to build up. So, given this situation when opposition has broken into 4-5 pieces, it would be wrong for them (TMC) or anybody else to say that they will be forming the next government. I think they should accept the reality.”
Not only this, NPP national president Conrad Sangma also took a dig at the Congress and said that the grand old party was the major opposition for the government but unfortunately had broken into 2 pieces, and led to the emergence of the TMC.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said,”The opposition is already divided. This is already making doubts in the minds of the people on whether these opposition parties can actually perform or not because they are not united anymore.”
