BJP will continue its winning streak in 2024: M’laya BJP leader Hek

Hek stated that for national elections people will vote for a national party.
Confident with the recent poll victories of BJP in 3 of the 5 key state elections, senior BJP legislator from Meghalaya AL Hek said the same momentum will continue for the party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
As the BJP wrestled away power from the Congress in Chattisgarh and Rajasthan, Hek feels that in Meghalaya too the BJP has a strong chance.
Speaking to media today, Hek said, “Having seen the recent election results in key states, the BJP winning wave will continue in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024, I have no doubt about it.”
Stating that state assembly elections are different from that of national polls, the senior BJP leader said that for national elections people will vote for a national party as people feel a national party can serve the people of the state better.
“State elections and national elections are two different things, for national elections people will go for a national party, there is no doubt at all” Hek added.
When asked if BJP should be fielding a female candidate for 2024 polls Hek said, “I have suggested it once but it totally depends on the decision taken by the national think-tank, it is up to them to decide who gets the tickets.”
Hek also said all the decision of him contesting for the Shillong seat in 2024 elections also rests with the national leadership. The state elections committee is yet to ask for the application for names.
He added that BJP is a political party which works throughout the year for the betterment of people whereas other parties can be seen working only during the time of elections.
BJP is yet to announce its candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats from Meghalaya. The state has two Parliamentary seats – Tura and Shillong.
Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held by March-April next year.
