Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has taken stock of the grim situation as incessant rainfall continues to wreak havoc across the state.

So far, 2 people have lost their lives and 3 others sustained injuries, with at least 1,023 individuals affected across 25 villages in 8 districts.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, 12 houses have been damaged and 25 key infrastructures, including roads and power lines, have suffered extensive damage due to the heavy rains.

The Chief Minister has directed district authorities to provide immediate relief to affected families.

With the current weather conditions expected to persist until tomorrow, the public has been urged to stay safe, take necessary precautions, and remain especially vigilant in landslide-prone and low-lying areas vulnerable to flash floods.
