The SP requested the people to refrain from roaming around with arms and ammunition and urged them to cooperate with the security forces
The security situation in fringe areas is stable, with no incidence of firing, violence, or provocation being reported in the last ten days, Churachandpur SP Karthik Malladi informed Northeast Live on Thursday.
To stop the movement of illegal items, including narcotics and illegal arms, the SP informed that joint forces and nakas have been set up at Kangvai, Torbung bazar, Torbung bangla, the mini secretariat, and a few other places in Churachandpur.
“The joint nakas are specially set up to recover the 400+ arms and ammunition which were looted from the district police. Surprise nakas will be operational starting today,” the SP added.
The SP requested the people to refrain from roaming around with arms and ammunition and urged them to cooperate with the security forces.
Further, the SP requested that the public should not create road blockades and obstructions to the duties being performed by the district police and also by the central forces.
He reiterated that the movement and display of arms are strictly prohibited and illegal. He added that it impacts the psychology of the children and women in the long run and disturbs the security environment of the town.
He also said that if anyone is found involved in illegal activities, they will be booked under the relevant sections of laws without any bias.
With many cases of crime being reported in the state amid the ongoing violence, the Churachandpur SP shared that the offices of the SP, OCs, and Singngat Sangai Court Churachandpur women police station are open for public consultation.
“If there are any security concerns of any fringe villagers or in the town areas or even a section of people feels threatened by any particular issue, please come forward, report your issues, and we will do our best to address your security concerns,” the SP said.
The people can reach out to the district police at the district police control number, 69091-61233.
“We are working 24/7 to secure the borders and the town. More than fifteen companies of central forces and more than 10 columns of army and Assam rifles are also in the district,” the SP added.
He also thanked the CSOs, village chiefs, the common public, and women organizations who have extended their cooperation.
