Permission for Rahul’s rally subject to security agencies’ report on situation in state: Manipur CM

Chief Minister Biren Singh said that the go ahead will be given only after taking a report from security agencies.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh said today that permission for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is subject to the law and order situation in the state and would depend on the report given by security agencies.

Speaking to media, Singh said, “The prevailing law and order in the state is critical, so giving permission for Rahul Gandhi’s rally is under active consideration. We are taking reports from various security agencies and after receiving the reports from the agencies we will take a concrete decision.”
Earlier, Congress MP KC Venugopal said that the yatra is not a political endeavour and said that it should not be politicised by denying clearance.

Venugopal said one of the main objectives of the yatra is to heal the wounds of the people of Manipur, which has been facing unrest for the last eight months, and to spread the message of love and affection.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is scheduled to begin from Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East on the 14th of January and end in Mumbai. Maharashtra.
