Sanctioned in 2014 under the PMGSY, the road connecting Galkapkot, Gamhui & Milongmun in Churachandpur district is still yet to be completed.

Development of road infrastructure is still a distant dream for the far flung areas of Manipur. Although the government did sanction the required fund for construction of a key road, but is reality things seem to be quite different.

Sanctioned in 2014 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the road connecting Galkapkot, Gamhui and Milongmun in Churachandpur district is still yet to be completed.

Even major portion of this key road is totally in bad shape with no signs of any effort being made to reconstruct the road. As a result, people in these areas are having a harrowing time for movement with situtation turning to worse from bad with every passing day.

The Gangte Tribe Council said that Chief Minsiter N Biren Singh was apprised about the matter on August 31, but the GTC is yet to receive a response and no proactive steps being taken so far.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Congress has taken strong exception to this. Speaking to Northeast Live, Manipur Congress president K. Meghachandra said that there is no execution of the road project despite funds being sanctioned which has already been withdrawn.

The Congress leader said, that putting aside the reality, the Chief Engineer of the PMGSY had submitted a report stating about the completion of the road project. But contrary to this, allegations are that, no execution of the project has been witnessed so far.

The Manipur Congress president alleged that it is a loot of public money and demanded that all those involved in the irregularities be taken to task by the government.
