Manipur Unrest: Sugnu MLA K Ranjit’s house burnt down

The MLA confirmed that his house in Sugnu was burnt down at around 12 AM last night by heavily armed miscreants

Incidents of arson, violence and firing continue to come in from different parts of Manipur. In the recent incident of arson, miscreants burnt down the house of Congress MLA R K Ranjit in Sugnu, under Kakching district of Manipur.

The MLA confirmed that his house in Sugnu was burnt down at around 12 AM last night by heavily armed miscreants.

Armed miscreants also burned down surrounding houses.

Armed miscreants also burned down 2 vehicles, an SUV and a pickup truck parked at the MLA’s residence complex.

MLA Ranjit was at Sugnu area and spent the night in one of his worker’s houses.

Today early morning K Ranjit left Sugnu for Imphal and reached Imphal safely.

Worth mentioning RK Ranjit was part of the 4-member MLA delegation led by minister Y Khemchand who were allegedly detained by the public during their visit to crisis affected areas in Sugnu. The people demanded that the Assam Rifles camp be shifted from the area.

This is the 5th incident of a Manipur legislator’s house being attacked.

Earlier, in the last week of May residences of at least 4 MLAs were targetted by irate mob. On May 4 BJP MLA Vungzagin Valte was attacked by unknown miscreants in the heart of Imphal town while he was returning from the Chief Minister’s secretariat.
