The post office staff have so far not been able to carry out any transactions mainly due to the internet shutdown and road blockade between the hills and the valley
Ever since the violence broke out in Manipur, most of the institutions in Churachandpur have not been able to function properly.
The Churachandpur Post Office is one such government institution that has come to a standstill for more than three months now.
The post office staff have so far not been able to carry out any transactions mainly due to the internet shutdown and road blockade between the hills and the valley.
The lack of mail correspondence is now beginning to bear down on common people as well as local businesses.
The post office’s postal assistant, Sujit Das, said that people are constantly complaining as there has been no correspondence from the post office.
“There has been no incoming and outgoing service till today from Imphal to Churachandpur due to the blockage of roads,” Das said.
As per sources, an arrangement was made today to transport a large number of pending mail items to Churachandpur from Imphal, however, it could not materialize.
