Manipur: Security forces ambushed yet again in Moreh, heavy gunbattle reported

At least 7 security personnel have reportedly been critically injured in the attack, after armed men fired an RPG at the convoy of the security forces.
Peace seems to elude Manipur with violence just refusing die despite repeated appeals for peace and harmony from different quarters of the society.
Situation remains to be tense in border town Moreh, after security forces once again came under the attack of armed miscreants this morning.
As per sources, armed men launched an ambush in the border town of Moreh, on a combined team of security forces comprising CDO, IRB, Manipur Rifles, and BSF personnel.
At least 7 security personnel have reportedly been critically injured in the attack, after armed men fired an RPG at the convoy of the security forces.
As per inputs, 4 CDO and 3 BSF personnel are critically injured.
The injured personnel have been airlifted from Moreh to Imphal and will undergo treatment at the RIMS.
2 individuals suspected to be involved in the firing have been apprehended by the combined security forces.
On December 31, a team of combined security forces conducting patrols in and around Moreh had come under attack from armed men with automatic weapons and bombs. Heavy cross firing ensued as armed men opened fire at the security forces.
Despite the imposition of curfew, gunfight took place near the India-Myanmar border and its neighbouring areas.
On December 30, a Manipur police team came under attack as armed miscreants triggered 3 to 4 blasts and opened fire on the team at Moreh. One policeman was injured in the attack.
Later at night RPGs were reportedly fired on police commandos. Four security personnel received injuries in the incident. The attack took place at the security barracks when the personnel were sleeping. The four were rushed to the Assam Rifles hospital.
It was indeed a tragic beginning of the New Year in Manipur after at least 4 people were killed and 6 injured in an attack by armed men at Lilong Chingjao in the state’s Thoubal district yesterday evening.
As per sources, armed men arrived in 4 vehicles and opened fire after an altercation leaving 4 dead and 6 critically injured.
Soon after the incident, Chief Minister N Biren Singh had reassured people of nabbing the perpetrators and urged people to maintain calm.
In a strongly worded message on December 31, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has termed the recent attacks on security personnel in the state as a grave threat to the national security.
